A free first-person VR game demo
Spider-Man: Homecoming - PS VR PS4 is a VR demonstration showing what it is like to see through the eyes of Spiderman, and the game world is based on the Spiderman Homecoming movie. It is a legitimate Marvel tie-in VR game.
Shoot web and throw things at enemies
Spider-Man: Homecoming - PS VR PS4 gives you a short look around a small section of the city, it teaches you how to shoot web and how to sling web. You are shown how to sling web at objects so that you may throw them, and you are walked through what looks like a quick tutorial session. Once you have learned the basic game mechanics, the game “Yada Yadas” its way into getting you to fight the boss. This is obviously a section from the real game that was pulled forward so that demo players could experience it. The graphics are about average for a PS4, which is a compliment when you consider how many developers are generating PS3 graphics for PS4 games, plus VR games are rarely this graphically enhanced, so even average graphics is still a compliment for this game.
Lots of potential that may never bear fruit
Spider-Man: Homecoming - PS VR PS4 is not a bad demo game, but it feels a little shallow and empty, almost as if the developers were simply testing the concept before scrapping it. The web-slinging mechanics have obviously had a lot of work put into them, and the graphics are up to standard, but the web swinging is very below par. This is especially upsetting since the previous games have been innovative in the way they have allowed players to swing around the city. Maybe the full game will quickly resolve this issue.
